The pine laricio is a very beautiful variety of pine of the mountains of Corsica, presented as a subspecies of the black pine. Some individuals claim 900 to 1,000 years of age. The tree provides a wood among the most rot-proof. The branches taken from the cut trees are distilled by the loggers. Unlike the Scots pine, the laricio pine has a molecular complexity where the monoterpenes do not reign supreme.
